In fact, Terraforce blocks represent one of the most energy efficient segmental retaining wall systems. They require low hardware input for manufacture, low transport costs, and low inventory requirements at sales outlets. In terms of quality control, production of blocks is automated to a large degree, cured under controlled conditions, and stacked and stored – with regular testing of blocks conducted. One example of Terraforce's effectiveness in the field is the recently com- pleted Terraforce earth retaining wall at the Salamanca Hospital in Salamanca, Spain – a project whose success depended on following the installation process methodically. The four rock face finish retaining walls, which support a new hospital access road, cover a 2,300-square-metre surface area, with a maximum height of 7.86 metres. According to Margie Simmons, CEO of Landscape Forms, multi-functional use of landscape furniture and other items is a growing trend in 2022; and so is sustainability, which she calls "vital, and a top priority for us." These elements can be found in a host of Landscape Forms products, and Simmons singles out the Typology Collection, the Shuffle lighting system, the Americana line of chair, and the Harvest table collection as items that are exceedingly popular among clients. "We're seeing a big uptick in these products being specified," she says. "They're built to last, they're sustainable, and they're not made overseas." The Typology Collection, which Landscape Forms partnered with Designworks (a BMW Group company) to create, is an innovative seating and lighting system that envelopes people – both from above and below – in an immersive experience. The materials are elegant and refined, yet resilient and enduring: cast aluminum and concrete run as a common thread through the collection to create a unified visual and tactile experience. With Typology, sculp- tural elements play in the vertical and horizontal planes, incorporating both light and shadow, to draw the eyes skyward then back to the earth with signa- ture design features. The first outcome of Landscape Forms' new partnership with Schréder is the aforementioned Shuffle – a smart and multifunctional lighting based system for outdoor spaces. Shuffle is a plug and-play solution for landscape architects, archi- tects, lighting designers, electrical engineers, municipalities, and developers who are increasingly being asked to better incorporate technology as an amenity into their site designs. "At one time a bench and light were all that was expected, but now users, designers, and owners expect Wi-Fi, 5G connectivity, levels of security, and the appropriate amount of light," says Landscape Forms Lighting Terraforce earth retaining wall at the Salamanca Hospital, Salamanca, Spain T E R R A F O R C E G O G R E E N G O G R E E N Rockface, Roundface, Flatface fi nish and/or Stairs.
