MAY/JUNE 2022 BCBUSINESS 15 We know that female leaders make an outsize contribution to business and society in B.C., but the contenders in our third annual Women of the Year Awards throw those achievements into sharp relief. Hailing from fields as disparate as finance, technol- ogy, academia and the nonprofit world, the 17 finalists you're about to meet are exceptional by any standard. With their boldness, ingenuity and compassion, they're taking our province in new directions and making life better for people here and elsewhere. They're also a diverse group, with women of colour claiming the top prize in most of the eight categories. On that note, we're thrilled to introduce the winners and runners-up, as chosen by our panel of judges (p.28) from a record number of nominations. Congratulations to each of them for showing the rest of us what's possible—and for doing it with such generosity and kindness.
