"As the spaces in our homes con- tinue to evolve, we uncover more opportunities to express our individuality and leverage the power of colour to design environments that serve different functions and styles," says Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore director of colour marketing and develop- ment. "October Mist and the corresponding colour trends 2022 palette reflects an effortless harmony of colours, while inspiring unique combinations for any paint project." From refreshed primary colours to luminous pales, the Colour Trends 2022 palette invigorates the senses and gives route to personal style. Drawing from every day observations, hobbies, personal rit- uals, and cultural influences, the Colour Trends palette features 14 Benjamin Moore colours that encourage experimentation and make room for any design style. EX TERIOR PRODUCTS Sansin's KP-12, an outstanding penetrating and protective undercoat for structural wood, dimen- sional lumber, engineered wood, and mass timber, continues to gain favour with discerning architects and builders alike. Designed for machine and HVLP airless application, this tintable formula reduces swelling, wood rot, moisture absorption, and pro- tects against U V degradation and staining. "Using KP-12 dramatically improves topcoat performance, while also protecting wood during the manufacturing and construction process and reducing in situ preparation and top coat applica- tion costs," explains Caroline March-Long, Sansin's director of sales and marketing. "Because KP-12 is imperceptible, it is ideal for projects where beautiful clear or light wood tones are desired." KP-12 comes in two formulas, KP-12W and KP-12U V W. KP-12W provides enhanced water repellence and excellent hold-out against water absorption. It protects timbers and engineered lum- ber against wood rot and also protects end grain and exposed wood joinery and surfaces that are exposed to weathering and moisture. KP-12U V W combines long-term U V protection with enhanced water repellence and excellent hold-out against water absorption for timbers and engineered lumber. Both versions conform to ASTM 4446 and protect against weathering during construction. KP-12 was recently applied to the wood on the Odeyto Indigenous Centre at Seneca College in Toronto to enhance the beauty of the wood, while offering supreme protection from U V degradation and moisture absorption. Over at PLC (Ferro Coverlink's main distributor), the company has introduced its Cork Spray line of eco-friendly products that will be a game-changer for many construction projects. "This coating pro- tects buildings from the forces of Mother Nature like rain, heat, and cold," says Siddharth Ruparel, direc- tor. "It's also flexible so it doesn't peel or chip off like stucco does, and is more durable than paint." Ruparel adds that while most painted build- ings need to be redone within five years or so, the lifespan of Cork Spray is beyond 20 years. "We are currently warrantying the product for 10 years. If there are any issues within that timeframe, we will fix the issue free of charge. In the next three years, we hope to increase the warranty to 15 years." Unlike other architectural finishes, Cork Spray boasts high resistance to fire, offers low thermal conductivity, and, most importantly, is a plant-based material. "It comes in 13 standard colours at the moment, with the base and pigments both coming from Spain," Ruparel explains. "However, this is the only product that can be used with regular pigments as well, by using Sherwin-Williams custom colour choices. No other cork spray manufacturer in the world has this option to use third party pigments." Another unique feature is it acts as acoustic insulation. "When applied to walls, it reduces the transmission of sound and vibrations," Ruparel says. "Another important feature is that while it's water- proof on vertical surfaces, it's also breathable. If moisture gets into the building, the Cork Spray will allow the vapour to escape and the structure can dry out quickly." The Cork Spray coating is also resis- tant to salt, mould, and mildew. It bonds easily to a number of surfaces, including brick, wood, stone, concrete, drywall, and metal.
