The seven-storey development features expan- sive stretches of Cascadia's double glazed, high-performance fibreglass window wall. Then there's SFU's newest student housing project that is built to Step 4 code requirements and uses Cascadia's triple-glazed fibreglass window wall as part of the envelope assembly. As for exciting developments, Cascadia is part of the working group develop- ing updated fenestration category rules for Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) reports. These reports offer an apples-to-apples comparison of the embodied carbon of different products. Noram Glass, like the other major players, has experienced the challenges of supply shortages and volatile pricing, and yet it is powering on and making great waves in the industry. Noram was recently selected to work on the new Google Office in Kitchener, which features Noram's four-sided SSG triple glazed unitized curtain wall for both appearance and performance. Another project of note is the newest addition to Centennial College that features oversized glass with custom ceramic frit, based on Noram's four-sided structural silicone unitized glazing system. Noram is currently working on ongoing improvements to streamline parts of its automated plant, while working on research and development on new generation products for the industry. 2021 has already been quite the year, but looking ahead Jess Redlarski at Noram says, "We are excited about the development of new technologies and the continued improvement/varied applications of technologies such as vacuum insulated glass and broader implementations of electrochromic glass." When it comes to innovation, Duxton Windows & Doors, which manufac- tures products for temperature extremes and uses a combination of insulated fibreglass frames with warm edge dual, triple, and quad pane glass, continues to take the lead and has been very busy of late. One of its biggest projects to showcase the versatility of its products is The Fort St. John 50-Unit Passive House apartment project, whose main exterior cladding is a cementitious rainscreen system, with deep recessed triple-glazed fibreglass windows and metal flashing surrounds.
