Message from the president & CEO Welcome to Vancouver, a city with an energy that inspires meeting and incentive guests. From the moment delegates arrive, they know they are somewhere special. Our stunning waterfront Convention Centre, cosmopolitan hotels and restaurants are set amidst a postcard-worthy backdrop that includes a scenic harbour and soaring Coastal Mountains, all surrounded by a 10-mile pedestrian seawall. Not surprisingly, this welcoming city is a top delegate draw, and a meeting planner's paradise.  When not in sessions, delegates enjoy endless options for keeping occupied thanks to the city's array of attractions, award-winning restaurants, outstanding arts and culture scene, diverse shopping venues and neighbourhoods, entertaining sports, and unique festivals. And it's a breeze to get around: the mile-long downtown core is easily navigable and best explored on foot or bicycle, which also contributes to Vancouver's reputation of being clean, green and safe.  Vancouver is well on its way to becoming the world's greenest city by 2020. Initiatives such as dedicated bike lanes, carbon neutral buildings, leading-edge recycling programs, new energy sources and green jobs clearly demonstrate how the city is setting standards worldwide for creating and implementing innovative ideas on sustainability. We're confident that these green strategies will benefit visitors and residents alike for years to come.  But our city is more than its exquisite natural surroundings and convenient downtown core. Vancouver is unlike any destination in which you've planned a meeting or event. Our unified hospitality community has been praised by industry leaders around the world, and because we all have similar goals we are committed to providing you with a seamless Vancouver experience. From the moment you start planning your event, you gain access to a city-spanning, experienced team whose objective is the same: to make your job easy and your meeting a lasting success. We trust you'll find this tool to be a valuable resource in planning for your meeting and delegate visits. On behalf of the 1,000 members of Tourism Vancouver, we look forward to welcoming you and your meeting to this incredible part of the world.   Rick Antonson President & CEO, Greater Vancouver Convention & Visitors Bureau welcome to vancouver  3
