Each with its own character and community,
Vancouver's many distinct neighbourhoods
invite visitors to soak in a wide variety of
urban vibes with roots in many different
cultures and ways of life. And with so many
of Vancouver's neighbourhoods located
close to one another, it's easy to explore
the different sides of this diverse city during
your visit.
Gastown
As Vancouver's birthplace, Gastown
sprang up in 1867 around John "Gassy
Jack" Deighton's tavern. Today, its
cobblestone streets are lined with First
Nations galleries, trendy restaurants and
stylish clothing boutiques.

Yaletown
Although evidence of Yaletown's industrial
warehouse era still lingers, the neighbourhood
has transformed into a trendy district for
alfresco dining and fine-art galleries.
Davie Village
Rainbow flags top the lampposts, and
always-buzzing coffee shops and clubs
make Vancouver's gay quarter especially
lively. This is a welcoming community where
you can relax in a bookstore or dance the
night away.
