The big take-away for Ames Tile & Stone this year is the introduction of large format slabs in four-feet by eight-feet, and four-feet by nine-feet. "These are big, beautiful panels that allow installation quickly," says Maegan Conway, marketing manager. "We launched the product in March and have had posi- tive results right from the start. Although these sizes are used primarily for bathrooms, lobbies, and lobby walls, thicker slabs can be ordered in the same design for flooring." Conway says the new series – Anima – is an add- on to the other successful choices including Tube, Portraits, Trend, and Lux Experience. "All of our series are available in a variety of sizes. These have been designed to all work together from bathroom walls to flooring to showers. We have six series in stock, with access to specialty colours, finishes, and sizes. We also have access to a large catalogue for products we don't regularly carry." Brent Fisher, general manager for Flesher Marble & Tile, says the marble look is very hot for 2020. "Large format panelling can be used on both walls and floors with the classic grey and white Statuario marble or the brown and white Calacatta marble. Classic looks in tiles – floor or wall – extend the life- cycle of the product." For porcelain tile options, Fisher says they can be customized to whatever people want. "Modelling and tones are defined by computers and printers set up to create the end product. The graphic tile prod- ucts will be at a premium cost, but the end result can be quite stunning." He adds wood plank porce- lain tile flooring has been coming for many years, and matte-coloured tiles have become one of the hottest trends in recent months. "Another example of creating custom products for tile installation is the renovation for the Chinook Centre in Calgary that we did a few years ago. The product had been discontinued and there was no maintenance material on hand. Because the quan- tity needed was small, it wouldn't make sense to go to Italy where larger quantities for orders are required. We have another factory connection that does smaller jobs, and the pieces are replicated by computer with the new technology." The finest hard surface flooring options on the market by LAURIE JONES Style Underfoot Olympia Tile + Stone offers a wide variety of classic marbles and various stone designs that breathe luxury into any space. "The Room collec- tion comes in eight strongly different 'marbles,' sizes from 60 by 120 centimetres [cm] to slab for- mats of 120 by 260 cm, all with a thickness of 6.5 millimetres. The collection is suitable for both flooring and full wall cladding. It has two surface finishes: a shiny gloss version and a natural one whose originality lies in the different light refrac- tions on its surface," says Anila Bregasi, director of research and product development. Arkistone, a combination of three different stones, is a series with elegant surface, homogenous look, and delicate opalescent veins. This collection is available in five neutral colours and five sizes: from 30 by 60 cm to slab formats of 120 by 240 cm. To meet the needs of contemporary design, Arkistone is available with three finishes: matte, textured, and structured, which are ideal for interior and exterior residential and commercial spaces. The decora- tive complex features a contemporary herringbone pattern with soft reliefs and also a combination of dazzling metallic rods. BELOW THE LINE Maxxon is excited to announce the launch of Renovation by Maxxon, a comprehensive line of subfloor repair products designed for maximum compatibility over gypsum, lightweight concrete and beyond. "The Renovation by Maxxon product line will feature innovative commercial floor products engineered to address modern floor renovation challenges, like sound control and fire safety," says Tara Crooker, marketing services specialist. "It will offer a variety of commercial primers and patches, pourable cementitious solutions, and sound control mats. The line is designed to bring to market prod- ucts that are easy to understand, select, and install yet versatile in their functionality." The core offering in the Renovation by Maxxon product line is the Multifamily EZ Renovation System, designed to quickly and permanently fix old gyp- sum and lightweight concrete subfloors. Traditional repair methods require that owners choose between patching the worst areas – a fast but impermanent solution – and ripping out and replacing the old subfloor with a new gypsum installation – a perma- nent but slow and costly solution. The Multifamily EZ Renovation System is a three-step process engi- neered to strengthen the surface of old gypsum or
