WIN!! bcaa.com as westworld went to press, Florida amended its recent 2013 state legislation requiring all "foreign" drivers to carry International Driver's Permits (IDPs) — so that Canadians would be exempt. The repeal came after CAA, other stakeholders and thousands of Canadian drivers were caught unaware by the new law, which came into effect with no notice. Bottom line: "Effective immediately, Canadians in Florida can go back to doing what they have always been able to do — drive with peace of mind in the Sunshine State using their provincial driver's licence," says Jeff Walker, CAA's vice president of public affairs. IDPs are also not required for Canadians driving else- where in the U.S., including Hawaii (with the exception of Georgia). Nor are Canadians required to carry an IDP when driving in Mexico, though CAA recommends that Canadians planning to rent a vehicle in Mexico carry one, to be on the safe side.
