A Trout Swims Through It WHEN YOU'RE ANGLING FOR FUN ON THE FLY, Roblin is a great place to start. After successfully hosting the 2010 National Fly Fishing Tournament, the residents of this lake-flanked town decided to hold their own annual tournament – the Bug Chucker Cup. Last year's inaugural event saw a weekend of competitive fishing in Persse, Bench, East Goose and Twin lakes conclude with a banquet, prizes and tall tales. With a fish count of 19 and a combined length of 635 centimetres (two and a half times the amount of the closest competitor), the team of Bossuyt/Boscow took home the hardware but not the prize money – they immediately donated it towards the 2013 competition. The second annual Bug Chucker Cup runs May 30-June 1. Interested participants or volunteers can contact the committee co-chairs: Bill Pollock, 204-937-8925, and Craig Mohr, 204-937-3324. ℹ bugchuckercup.com Trophy Fish MAY 27 WILL BE A BANNER DAY at Winnipeg's Shaw Park.
