30 spring/summer 2020 psf.ca PSF is proud to showcase a few of this past year's Salmon Champions in the community. We're grateful for their support in our work to restore and conserve Pacific salmon. Take a look at some of the people and companies dedicated to protecting this iconic species in B.C. and the Yukon. COMMUNITY TRAILBLAZERS Our Community Salmon Program (CSP) is at the heart of PSF's operations. This year, Neptune Terminals showed their support by committing to a donation of $100,000 over four years to CSP projects. Special thanks to our other CSP supporters, Methanex, Mosaic Forest Management, Fortis BC, BC Hydro, Enbridge Inc., Trans Mountain and Seaspan, for their generous commitments this year. KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY Over the years, family foundations have continued to grow as a substantial support network for the Pacific Salmon Foundation. These foundations include but are not limited to Highbury Foundation, Houssian Family Foundation, Shannon and Nairne Gray Foundation, Knelson Family Foundation, Krogseth Foundation, Alastair & Diana Gillespie Foundation and The Wolrige Foundation. Over the past decade, Sitka Foundation has continued to set the bar for contributions to CSP projects and science and research in the Salish Sea; to date, their donations have totalled over $950,000. PSF is not only proud to work alongside these foundations, we consider them part of the PSF family as well. Do you know of or have a family foundation interested in supporting salmon? Contact Cory Matheson at cmatheson@psf.ca or call 604.664.7664 ext. 106. INVESTING IN THE SALISH SEA Our Salish Sea Marine Survival Project continues to produce meaningful research addressing juvenile salmon survival in the Strait of Georgia, and this work wouldn't be possible without the generous donors that support the program. Canadian Fishing Company, Genome BC, RBC Foundation, Sitka Foundation, YVR and Orca Spirit Adventures have all buoyed our efforts to continue this research and restore critical habitat for salmon. Kudos to all! SALMON Donors Making a Difference Ross and Trisha Beaty, Sitka Foundation, present their donation to former PSF President Brian Riddell at our Vancouver Gala. A harbour seal dons a beanie to obtain research on predation of juvenile salmon in the Strait of Georgia. Lisa Dooling, Neptune Terminals, donates her time at the Coho Festival.
