editor's letter er, e, ia 4in er. ail: nd a- spring into style JUST IN TIME for spring, at BC Home & Garden we have undergone a renewal of our own. Along with our continued focus on home decor, design trends and gardening, this month we shift toward an emphasis on the practical and the fun – and let's not forget food and entertaining. Our focus is on the home. When we tackle a story we will always look for a companion piece that expands on B.C.'s lifestyle. If we photograph a garden, we might feature a recipe that includes ingredients pulled directly from the backyard. Our cover story, titled Let's Do Brunch, captures this new direction. My friend Shelagh Cluff is photographed prepping a no-fuss Easter brunch for her busy family of five (see page 42). Her newly renovated home serves as the backdrop for the latest in colourful spring kitchen and design accessories. We have also thrown in a make-ahead brunch recipe that will leave you plenty of time to spend with guests. Also in this issue, we debut a new design column, Design To Go, where we feature practical design tips from up-andcoming interior designers. Regional travel with an eye on design is the topic of our new Destinations page. BC Home & Garden recently served as a sponsor of the BC Home & Garden Show (no relation!). A big shout out to interior designers Jennifer Scott and Megan Baker from A Good Chick to Know who spoke on behalf of the magazine about how to translate the year's hottest trends for your own space. Our editorial team scoured the aisles to identify our own favourite finds. There was a definite emphasis on DIY projects, bright hits of colour in both home decor and garden plantings and lots of ideas on ways to maximize room in space-starved Vancouver. Access the links below, meet our team and vote for your favourite pick from this must-see annual event for renovators and garden enthusiasts. ■ Amy Mair, Editor BC Home & Garden amair@canadawide.com TO SEE THE VIDEOS of our picks visit bcliving.ca/editor-picks editor's picks UP AND WAY Vertical gardens are a great way to maximize space while making a serious garden design statement.
