WE LIVE IN uncertain times. Our world is experiencing unprecedented economic changes. While the European Union faces incredible financial challenges, our U.S. neighbours are dealing with mounting government debt and weak employment prospects. Stock markets worldwide are volatile. And though managing a business and predicting future trends can be challenging at the best of times, charting a course for a business in turbulent times – that's a whole different ball game. That said, BCAA has been serving Members for 106 years. And to ensure we continue to be there for you – today and tomorrow – we have a game plan. Nothing complicated: we will simply manage BCAA according to the principles and values that have stood the test of time. We'll anchor decisions in our core values of integrity, teamwork and sustainability. We'll be guided by answers to the question: "What is the right thing to do?" Most important, we'll focus on you – our valued Members. You have made a decision to join and do business with us, and we strive always to reward that decision by providing 6 WESTWORLD p06-07_Pres.Mess..indd 6 >> good old-fashioned value and an experience that leaves no doubt that your decision was a good one. As part of these efforts, we recently upgraded bcaa.com, making it easier to navigate and transact business online – such as purchasing travel insurance. We then launched a smartphone application, providing on-the-go options for requesting roadside assistance and accessing exclusive Member savings. Next, we're testing a location design that is more welcoming and convenient, and that offers more of what you've told us you want – such as improved privacy when discussing home and/or life insurance. Our responsibility as stewards of your Membership dues is also one we continue to take very seriously. Despite rising fuel costs, we have not increased the cost of a basic BCAA Membership since 2008. We manage risks carefully, invest conservatively and have no plans to take on debt. In a nutshell, our approach to managing through uncertain times is to stick to the basics, stick to what we know and do well and stick together. By doing so, we're confident BCAA will continue to be successful in both good times and challenging times, and we'll be there to serve you for another 106 years. Thank you for your business! ba.
