P R O M O T I O N A L F E AT U R E Ho! Ho! Snohomish! Snohomish County is the ultimate holiday season getaway W ashington States Snohomish County is a magnet for B.C. travellers in summer. But in winter, traffic crossing the border becomes positively voluminous and not just because Snohomish has great scenery and outdoor sports in abundance. Ask any seasoned traveller what the big lure is and the reply is likely Shopping, shopping and more shopping. And thats not an understatement. Seattle Premium Outlets boasts savings of 25 to 65 percent daily on the states largest collection of designer brands (including Adidas, Brooks Brothers and Calvin Klein). As a result, it is now a Mecca for Canadians, to the point where its seventh annual post-Thanksgiving weekend Midnight Madness sale starting Seattle Premium Outlets, Flying Heritage Collection p32-34_Wash.indd 33 12 a.m. November 22 will last 22-plus hours. With the outlet conveniently located just 30 miles north of Seattle in the Tulalip tribes Quil Ceda Village, these same shoppers are also likely to overnight in comfort at the Tulalip Resort Casino and other area hotels the better to catch up on lost sleep after dashing between the outlets 110 designer and name-brand stores. Not surprisingly, many getaway packages with built-in savings are offered in conjunction with this retailing phenomenon. For example, this year between November 8 and December 23, the Tulalip Resort is offering a Shop Till You Drop escape consisting of overnight deluxe accommodation for two, a $50 Seattle Premium Outlets gift card and daily breakfast at the resorts Eagles Buffet for just U.S.$125 per person. Travellers more inclined toward the arts can also take advantage of many more onsite options, including the resorts annual winter comedy lineup in its Orca Ballroom; Coast Salish art exhibits throughout the property (even the carpets tell a story, with woven patterns that pay homage to the tribes traditional cedar-basket designs) and numerous culinary events and specials all winter long kicking off with a Taste of Tulalip dinner, wine tastings and cooking seminars November 9 to 10. Also of note: as of August 2012 Quil Ceda Village became home to (clockwise from left) The Tulalip Resort Hotel-lobby totem poles; Seattle Premium Outlets boasts 110plus designer and name-brand stores; new premises are slated for Everetts Flying Heritage Collection.
