SALISH SEA LEGACY Habitat restoration and research continues through the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project with PSF donors driving efforts forward! Special thanks to the Canadian Fishing Company, Genome BC, RBC Foundation, Sitka Foundation and YVR. REEL GENEROSITY Despite ongoing challenges in the recreational fishing sector, businesses there continue to form a major base of support for PSF. In 2018, Duncanby Lodge donated $480,000 for the Percy Walkus Hatchery through personal donations and by leading fundraising efforts. Langara Island Lodge continues to outdo itself with the annual Red Boat Challenge, which brings together leaders in the mining sector. The fishing trip raised a record $80,400 including matching funds from Langara. One of our longest- standing supporters, Westcoast Resorts, raised more than $25,000 through its Salmon Masters Tournament last year. The company has donated more than $1 million to PSF cumulatively since inception. WATCHING WHALES, SAVING SALMON It was a sign of the times when the winning Salmon Conservation Stamp image was unveiled: the first to include a Southern Resident Orca, reflective of growing public concern over the struggling population. But long before it dominated the headlines, whale watching and ecotourism companies in B.C. recognized the need to support Chinook salmon. For the last few years, a growing collection of companies have adopted a small conservation fee for customers that is passed on to PSF. Orca Spirit Adventures donated a whopping $45,000 last year, and the program itself has raised almost $275,000 to date!
