As of April 1, after serving as Executive Vice President of the Pacific Salmon Foundation, Michael Meneer became PSF's new President and CEO. He succeeds Dr. Brian Riddell, who served for 10 years in the position, and who will continue to work for PSF in the role of Science Advisor. We also recently announced that Jason Hwang will join the PSF team in the newly created position of Vice President, Salmon. Jason brings 25 years of experience in Pacific salmon conservation and habitat protection with Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Jason will be the salmon technical expert within our leadership team and with key constituencies including governments, donors, grantees and program partners. In addition to managing PSF's grant-making and science programs, Jason will also be PSF's representative to various external policy forums concerning Pacific salmon science, management, conservation and restoration. Thanks to Brian and his outstanding team, PSF has grown substantially in size, scope and reputation during the last decade. During this period, Michael Meneer has been a key PSF leader. Michael first joined the sta" in 2009 as Vice President for Development, Marketing and Communications. He helped generate significant growth in fundraising, communications and government relations during that period. This included leadership roles in the fundraising campaign for the $13-million Salish Sea Marine Survival Project and the successful e"ort to return 100 per cent of Salmon Conservation Stamp revenue to PSF's Community Salmon Program. We are in a time of growing awareness and concern amongst the public for wild salmon. There are also new major government investments in science and research to help address their challenges. Now more than ever, PSF must be ready to step up and bring the wide breadth of stakeholders who care for salmon together with our new leadership team. I am very excited about the future for PSF and the opportunities that lie ahead. Jim Hudson Chair PSF Board of Directors "I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to lead PSF at a tremendously consequential time for Pacific salmon in British Columbia. There are many reasons to be optimistic about our prospects to restore Pacific salmon and I look forward to continuing to work with PSF's partners to do all that we can to bring salmon back, stream by stream." — Michael Meneer President & CEO Pacific Salmon Foundation
