The iced seafood towers are a classic choice and the yuzu dashi sablefish rarely disappoints, but always glance at the fresh sheet first to see what's in season. More into the turf side of a menu? The brand-new Elisa specializes in cuts of beef from across the country and around the world. l The fan fave of both Bono and Drake, Cioppino's Mediterra- nean Grill is an Italian fine-dining restaurant with a warm-and-woody atmosphere that will encourage you to linger for dessert. Yaletown RECOMMENDED: l Sunset Beach comes by its name naturally: it's one of the best spots to catch the last rays of the day. Bring a blanket, grab some Malaysian takeout from Banana Leaf and join West Enders on the grassy knoll just above the sandy beach. l A neighbourhood fixture since 1990, CinCin Ristorante + Bar got a boost with the 2011 addition of chef Andrew Richard- son and a high-heat, wood-fired oven that's now used in the preparation of nearly every dish. l Love ramen? Some of the best of the city is within a few blocks on Denman Street. T his former industrial enclave, once home to the first gas station in Canada, has been reborn as a residential and retail neighbourhood, with those big loading docks and over- hanging canopies making for perfect patios and restaurants. Peruse bleeding-edge fashion from labels like Vetements and Comme des Garcons at Leisure Center, or treat your shelf to one of the delightfully eclectic offerings at an in-store outpost of London's Donlon Books. At the Contemporary Art Gallery, take in an avant-garde sound performance or book a free curatorial tour. In summer David Lam Park, on the shore of False Creek, hosts events ranging from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival to outdoor movies and the odd Ultimate Frisbee tournament. D espite its high density, the West End's tree-lined streets, plentiful parks and popular beaches make it a place to linger and relax. It's home to the annual Pride Parade in August (the rainbow-painted crosswalks and fuchsia bus stops highlight its history as the city's original LGBTQ2 neighbourhood), but it's also an ideal home base for seniors and international students (the most westerly stretch of Robson Street features a robust selection of Japanese and Korean restaurants and groceries). Rent a bike and take a spin around Stanley Park on the Seawall (counterclockwise only!), but fair warning: on a gorgeous sunny day, it's often packed. Find some peace, quiet and natural beauty by instead venturing deep into the park's forested interior. HIGH TEA: On Sundays, enjoy afternoon tea and a tour of the Roedde House Museum, a lovingly restored Victorian mansion built in 1893. PUP PALACE: Yaletown gets its rep as pampered pet central in part due to trendy dog boutiques like Bones, with its mirror-polished Alessi food bowls and Barbour leashes.
