#BCAASAVESTHEDAY
Safe and Seated
A
Duncan family is counting its blessings after four children walked away
unscathed from a rollover accident this spring – and thanking
BCAA and
United Way for keeping everybody safely buckled in.
The
BCAA and United Way Community Child Car Seat Program provides car seats
to non-profit community agencies that work with families in need. The families must
have children aged nine and under, and must qualify through an application process.
"We had given this family two high-backed boosters, as the two youngest of their
children had outgrown the car seats they were using," says Rhoda Taylor of Duncan's
United Way chapter.
The family's van rolled over several times before coming to rest in a ditch. The
adults suffered pulled muscles and a head injury, but the children weren't hurt. For
that, the family is extremely grateful. "They credit the seats as a significant part of the
reason the children were uninjured," says Taylor.
